Initiatives for an IT world with less energy consumption |
The international IT industry is massing its forces and committing itself to computers that use less energy. Various actions aimed at achieving this are grouped under the umbrella of the “Climate Savers Computing Initiative”. The objective is to increase the energy efficiency of computers so that carbon dioxide emissions can be cut by 54 million tons a year.
This initiative takes up the leitmotif of this year’s CeBIT at Hall 9 by staging the Green IT Village, a demonstration center for green ideas and innovations in the computer industry. Fujitsu Siemens Computers will be at the forefront of the Village and at the accompanying talks at the congress and press events. The company will use this setting to present concrete results from its many years of environmentally friendly development, production and use of computer systems.
