DMX stands for Direct Matrix, a fundamentally new storage array architecture that delivers entirely new levels of performance, availability, functionality, and economics. Using this advanced architecture, the Symmetrix DMX 1000 is a fully integrated high-end mass storage system as single bay.

It supports up to 144 drives, 64 GB Cache and 48 front-end ports and offers high performance with a flexible scalability in a very compact form. It has a total usable capacity of up to 21 TB and so fulfils today's demands for a modern storage system. As a high-end system it needs to be always online, which means “non-disruptive everything” - non-disruptive upgrades, non-disruptive reconfigurations, and non-disruptive serviceability.
Storage Software – the fuel and functionality that power the Symmetrix DMX engine Enginuity is the established operating system environment of all Symmetrix systems. In combination with the powerful hardware it taps the full potential of the Direct Matrix. The environment is open and supports hundreds of server-types, several protocols, standard APIs and hundreds of ISV storage applications. So it provides a solid basis for applications and protects your investment for many hardware generations.
Specialised models to fit customer’s demands For the Symmetrix DMX1000, as well as for all other products in the Symmetrix family, there are specialised models, which fit higher customer’s demands in performance or availability. Not everyone needs them, but for example in large-scale data warehouses or decision support environments, these models may be right. Our experts will of course assist you in determining which Symmetrix DMX performance model is the most appropriate solution.
Symmetrix DMX 1000-M - Meeting more demanding SLA requirements When Service Level Agreements require higher levels of performance and availability the new Symmetrix DMX1000-M2 models are the right choice. They incorporate 1Ghz PowerPC channel and disk directors to raise the top-end systems performance of the Symmetrix DMX series by up to 30%. In addition to the new DMX-2 models, this technology is also available as a data-in-place upgrade to existing Symmetrix DMX systems.
Symmetrix DMX1000-P - the ultimate in storage system performance The Symmetrix P-Model is built for extra speed in extreme, performance-intensive environments. It is optimized for ultrahigh performance in terms of number of disk channels and the ratio of disks to those channels. |
