DRIVE has proved its excellence in practice as a 4th generation language for the BS2000 mainframe system. DRIVE is specifically designed for developing commercial online transaction processing applications (OLTP). With OLTP applications, many interactive users can work simultaneously with the same programs and access the same data resources with transaction security.
For developing these applications, DRIVE provides high-quality language tools and services which means that developers need not concern themselves with the details of the system interfaces to the transaction monitor, to the database systems or to the user interface systems.
The new version V3.1 is the logical further development of the DRIVE server strategy. It supports the new SESAM/SQL-Server V3.1 database system and access for SAM and ISAM file systems in new-style syntax. For UDS/SQL and SESAM/SQL V1.x the DRIVE Version V2.1 remains deliverable.
DRIVE's user-friendly language features include:- SQL statements integrated into the language for the definition of databases (DDL) and data access (DML)

- Language resources and automated mechanisms for transaction control
