PRIMERGY two and four-way servers continue to set the Intel-based server performance standard

- New Fujitsu Siemens PRIMERGY H250 and R450 servers secure key TPC-C OLTP benchmark records

Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European vendor of secure Business Critical Computing and Mobility solutions, has continued to set the performance standard for Intel-based servers with two new TPC-C performance benchmarks for its PRIMERGY server range. During recent tests, Fujitsu Siemens Computers achieved a new world-best score in an OLTP performance test for its new dual processor PRIMERGY H250 server. In addition, the company’s new four-way PRIMERGY R450 server received the best-rating ever awarded in the TPC-C online transaction benchmark for four-way servers running Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
 
The new PRIMERGY H250 model achieved the best result to date of any dual servers in the TPC-C online transaction benchmark – a standardised benchmark test for measuring the performance throughput of complete configurations subject to scrutiny by the Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC). This beat the previous record – also held by an earlier generation Fujitsu Siemens Computers PRIMERGY F200 two-way server – by more than 50 per cent.
 
The PRIMERGY H250 server is configured with two Intel Xeon 2.20 GHz processors and features 8GB of RAM and has been extended with thirteen PRIMERGY S30 storage subsystems comprising 142 18 GB hard disks. The performance record of 33768.41 tpm-C at a price/performance ratio of EURO 7.97/tpm-C (status as at 26 February 2002), was achieved under the Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating system and with the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition database. Positioned in the all-round server segment, the PRIMERGY H250 comes in a rackmount tower version and provides the ideal platform for a host of applications in different market sectors and application environments.
 
The PRIMERGY Server R450 is configured with four Intel Xeon processors with 1.60 GHz and 1 Mbyte iL3 cache, as well as 8 GB main memory. The configuration measured also included three PRIMERGY L200s for client processing and 21 PRIMERGY S30 storage subsystems with a total of 234 hard disks, each with 18 Gbytes. The TPC-C benchmark rating was achieved through the use of Microsoft Windows 2000 Enterprise Edition. Positioned in the rack server segment, the powerful PRIMERGY R450 rack server offers the ideal platform for a wide range applications in data centres with a 19-inch infrastructure.
