New FibreCAT CX400 storage system and extended 'SnapView' functionality for high-availability environments

- Fujitsu Siemens Computers extends storage product portfolio for Business Critical Computing

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has extended its enterprise storage product portfolio with the launch of an additional FibreCAT midrange storage system for IT infrastructure consolidation. The new FibreCAT CX400, available immediately, is a full 2 Gbit/s fibre channel storage product designed to focus on intelligent storage management functions. Outstanding features include a leading price/performance ratio combined with an extensive portfolio of software products for managing heterogeneous storage environments.
 
The FibreCAT CX400 belongs to the new FibreCAT CX product series. Investment protection in both hardware and software is guaranteed as all CX systems share a common architecture, components and functionality. For example, the FibreCAT CX600 and the new CX400 use the same drives and expansion shelves. Users can easily upgrade existing FibreCAT CX400 systems to the CX600 system without having to migrate their data.
 
Software investment protection and SnapView enhancements As a result of the close co-operation between Fujitsu Siemens Computers and its long-term strategic partner EMC, the new FibreCAT CX400 features the richest set of software functionality of any storage system in the midrange market. This ensures uninterrupted operation as well as optimum availability and efficient disaster recovery. The FibreCAT CX400 shares the same valuable and robust software with previous FibreCAT FC4700 models and the new FibreCAT CX600 system. Using Mirror View, users can now mirror their production data between these three systems in any combination and direction.
 
The new FibreCAT CX400 also features significantly enhanced SnapView replication software functionality, with a powerful new SnapView Business Continuance Volumes (BCV) capability. This provides a full-image copy of a volume and can be incrementally re-established or restored back to the original. This functionality offers increased data protection and application sharing in highly-availability environments and affords users outstanding flexibility for storing and managing their data. FibreCAT systems offer consistent high availability in heterogeneous server environments and eliminate downtimes that result from planned or unplanned events.
