Fujitsu Siemens Computers powers on-board wireless broadband Internet access for Lufthansa

- Leading European computer company takes Mobility one stage further, delivering notebooks for Lufthansa's FlyNet broadband Internet service

As Lufthansa project partner Fujitsu Siemens Computers provides FlyNet with 50 notebooks for the wireless broadband Internet on board the Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Washington. For the initial three month trial of FlyNet the airline will be loaning out 50 LIFEBOOK S6010 notebooks with integrated Wireless LAN (WLAN) technology. Passengers can test the mobile office above the clouds for free.
 
With this important development, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has underlined its mobility strategy, offering products and solutions for mobile data access every time and everywhere. The leading European computer company is offering a complete mobility portfolio, from LIFEBOOK and STYLISTIC Tablet PC to the PDA Pocket LOOX, and a range of mobility solutions including mobile access to SAP and other business critical applications. The offering is completed by wireless connectivity solutions such as secure WLAN. Up to now Fujitsu Siemens Computers is already selling 25 per cent of its LIFEBOOKs with integrated wireless technology as WLAN or Bluetooth.
 
The LIFEBOOK
The LIFEBOOK S6010 notebook with Intel/Mobile/Pentium/III Processor and a weight of 1.71 kg offers a battery life span of up to six hours. Each LIFEBOOK will have its battery refreshed on landing and specially trained service professionals will be available during the trial run for technical issues. To avoid any security concerns, all information stored on the notebooks will automatically be deleted when the computer is rebooted. It is also possible to purchase the LIFEBOOK S6010 directly from Lufthansa via its Miles & More Skyshop catalogue.
