NAS for small and medium-sized enterprises
- Fujitsu Siemens Computers extends storage portfolio with "Windows Powered NAS"
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has added the new FibreCAT® N30 to
its extensive Network Attached Storage (NAS) portfolio. As an optimised file
server, the FibreCAT N30 is a "Windows Powered NAS" appliance, which runs on
the reliable Intel-based PRIMERGY servers from Fujitsu Siemens Computers
with Microsoft Windows technology. This new storage solution particularly
stands out due to its high reliability, high availability, and simple
administration.
"Our new NAS entry-level model, the FibreCAT N30, is designed for small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and integrates smoothly in existing
infrastructures," commented Dr. Helmut Beck, Vice President of Storage at
Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "This new FibreCAT N30 NAS solution is ideal for
the growing number of SME organisations with applications that require an
optimal level of scalability, performance and fail-safe operation."
The storage capacity of 292 GB in the basic version can be increased to 1.3
TB with the FibreCAT SX30's storage expansion unit, making this file server
an ideal design for future data growth as it offers years of high investment
protection.
"Windows Powered NAS" includes mechanisms for optimising availability, such
as snapshot technology which allows point-in-time copies of data sets. The
fast installation and the entire data management are handled via an
integrated web user interface.
"Microsoft is pleased to be working with Fujitsu Siemens Computers to expand
the availability of Windows Powered NAS solutions, delivering a reliable,
scalable storage infrastructure for our customers," said Charles Stevens,
Corporate Vice President of the Enterprise Storage Division at Microsoft
Corp. "Fujitsu Siemens Computers FibreCAT N30 provides a powerful
combination of easy manageability and superior performance at a low total
cost of ownership."
