technology and 13.3 TFT-XGA screen from just £1119 exc. VAT

- innovative Mobility solutions reduce complexity of Wireless LAN implementation
Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European vendor of
secure Business Critical Computing and Mobility solutions, is extending its
Mobility portfolio with the launch of new notebook and Tablet PC products
and solutions at the Wireless LAN Event at Olympia from 22-23 May. The
company will introduce a range of new products and solutions at the event,
including the new ultra-portable LIFEBOOK S6120 notebook PC and E4010
desktop replacement notebook - both featuring Intel Centrino technology, new
Tablet PCs with onboard Wireless LAN and new screen technology, and a range
of specialist Mobility solutions.
The LIFEBOOK S6120 is expected to be Fujitsu Siemens Computers' main volume
notebook PC for 2003 and will be available from £1119 exc. VAT, while the
new LIFEBOOK E4010 will start from £1209 exc. VAT.*
"Fujitsu Siemens Computers was the first major IT vendor to establish
Mobility as one of its key strategic directions, and we've found that this
early focus has translated quickly into real market gains. Last year, for
example, we grew UK sales of our notebook PCs to the SME market by over 50
per cent and we're looking for further strong growth this year," commented
Nick Eades, Fujitsu Siemens Computers' Director of Marketing. "At the
Wireless LAN Event this week we're launching important new notebook PC
models - including the extremely-competitive LIFEBOOK S6120 with Intel
Centrino technology - which will play a key role in helping us to achieve
our aggressive growth targets for mobile computing.
"At Fujitsu Siemens Computers we also go beyond core devices such as PDAs,
notebook and Tablet PCs to help enable our customers' IT infrastructures for
Mobility and wireless computing. In addition to new PC hardware we're also
demonstrating a range of Mobility solutions - including remote back-up for
an organisation's many mobile workers, seamless roaming across Wireless LAN,
GPRS and GPS, and thin-client solutions for enterprise applications such as
mySAP," he continued.
LIFEBOOK S6120 ultra-portable notebook PC
The new LIFEBOOK S6120 ultra-portable notebook PC is the market's lightest
fully functional notebook to feature Intel's new Centrino Mobile Technology
platform for longer battery life and higher performance. It features a
distinctive multi-bay concept that allows, for example, the addition of a
second battery - which when combined with Centrino technology, offers
exceptional battery life for remote working. Fujitsu Siemens Computers has
also equipped the new S6120 with a 13.3" TFT-XGA display with 1024x768
resolution, combining excellent screen performance with the benefits of an
ultra-portable weighing from just 1.7kg. The S6120 also features Intel's new
Centrino chipset with integrated graphics and Intel PRO Wireless 2100
wireless chipset.
LIFEBOOK E4010 'desktop replacement' notebook with integrated WLAN
With its Intel Centrino technology, 14" and 15" screens, comprehensive
security and flexibility thanks to its modular chassis, the LIFEBOOK E4010
makes an ideal desktop replacement notebook PC. Offering up to 1GB DDR RAM,
integrated Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 as standard, and manageability software
to facilitate network deployment, the LIFEBOOK E4010 also provides users
with the opportunity to install a second hard disk or Li-Ion battery for
increased flexibility.
Stylistic ST Series with new 'outdoor' screen technology
The company is also launching a new version of its Stylistic ST Series
Tablet PC at the Wireless LAN Event, extending its functionality to provide
even greater Mobility support for users. Key highlights include faster
processors with a Mobile Intel Pentium III 933 MHz onboard, the addition of
a new transflective screen - a first for a Tablet PC - that make the
Stylistic ST Series the most suitable such device for outdoor operation, and
integrated Wireless LAN support. Given the company's focus on key
application areas such as Sales Force Automation, Field Service, Healthcare,
Insurance, Pharmaceuticals and Market Surveys, these changes will ensure
that Fujitsu Siemens Computers continues to concentrate on delivering Tablet
PC solutions for real world users.
Wireless solutions for mobile workers - CONNECT2AIR
Fujitsu Siemens Computers will also show its new CONNECT2AIR wireless
connectivity products that include Wireless LAN with CONNECT2AIR WLAN,
GSM/GPRS with CONNECT2AIR 3GSM and BluetoothÔ with CONNECT2AIR Bluetooth.
CONNECT2AIR solutions use WLAN and/or GPRS networks - whichever is most
suitable for the job at hand. Local connectivity to GPRS networks or
peripherals can be made using BluetoothÔ, now provided increasingly in
mobile phones, PDAs and notebooks. With a range of available formats,
including Compact Flash cards, PC cards, PCI cards and USB connectivity,
customers can make wireless connection from a selection of devices including
PDAs, notebook PCs, Tablet PCs, desktops and workstations..
Reducing wireless complexity with Mobility solutions:
Fujitsu Siemens Computers is also demonstrating its expanding portfolio of
Mobility solutions designed to help organisations reduce the complexity and
overall deployment risk of their wireless implementations. On show at the
Wireless LAN Event include:
- Legato NetWorker Laptop - an innovative monitoring, back-up and restore
solution for the growing number of organisations with remote workers with
either notebook PCs, Tablet PCs or LAN-attached desktops. NetWorker Laptop
allows users to safely back-up their data using advanced delta block
technology and 112-bit DES encryption, and also be part of automatic
company-wide PC upgrade capabilities.
- Seamless Roaming - bridging the gap between the wired and wireless worlds
to provide a seamless link between wired networks, Wireless LANs and
external GSM and GPRS wireless environments. Fujitsu Siemens Computers'
Seamless Roaming solution allows a user to disconnect their notebook or
Tablet PC from a LAN and maintain their connection by using the most
appropriate Wireless LAN or communications service.
- Mobility for mySAP - thanks to its close relationship with SAP, Fujitsu
Siemens Computers has developed a powerful Mobility solution to allow remote
workers to access key corporate data from their mySAP applications and data.
- Video and Internet streaming - the company is also demonstrating a number
of streaming solutions using PDAs, Tablet PCs and notebook PCs connected by
both Bluetooth and Wireless LAN solutions.
- Secure Mobile Access - providing employees and partners with secure access
to their enterprise infrastructure and applications from their PDAs,
notebooks, Tablet PCs and remote desktops.
