Fujitsu Siemens Computers grows ahead of UK market with double digit growth for its 2002-03 fiscal year

- Revenues for PRIMEPOWER Solaris-based UNIX servers up by almost 80 per cent; LIFEBOOK notebook PC business up 73 per cent
- Targeting further growth for new business year, with major expansion of its UK reseller community

At a briefing in London today Fujitsu Siemens Computers' CEO, Adrian v. Hammerstein, highlighted the key role the company's UK operation has played in helping Fujitsu Siemens Computers perform ahead of a declining IT market. According to v. Hammerstein: "In an IT market that continues to go backwards, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has again outgrown the market, particularly in the UK where the latest IDC figures for the first quarter of this year show us performing strongly and growing customer revenues by 13 per cent against a market that declined overall by two per cent."

A clear focus on the company's Mobility and Business Critical Computing strategies has helped Fujitsu Siemens Computers to grow its UK revenues for the 2002/2003 financial period by some 23 per cent over the previous year. For the current business year, the company plans to grow ahead of the UK market, gaining market share and increasing its overall business.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has continued to develop its Mobility portfolio, which now ranges from PDAs, Tablet PCs and notebook PCs based on the latest Intel Centrino technology, through to Mobility solutions that include intelligent roaming for access to personal data from any location. UK sales revenues for mobile products grew by 73 per cent for the last financial year.

In the enterprise market, Fujitsu Siemens Computers achieved major growth in its PRIMEPOWER Solaris-based UNIX server business, increasing revenue 78 per cent over the previous year. Key PRIMEPOWER successes included important contracts from organisations such as Churchill Insurance, Specsavers and the University of Manchester, as well as leading financial sector organisations such as Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse First Boston. In addition to PRIMEPOWER, the company more than doubled its Professional Services revenues and continued to grow its enterprise storage business working closely with leading partners such as EMC.

"We're finding that UK organisations are responding well to our Mobility and Business Critical Computing proposition, and are increasingly turning to Fujitsu Siemens Computers for their IT infrastructure requirements," added Dave Cullinane, Managing Director for Fujitsu Siemens Computers in the UK and Ireland. "In the enterprise space particularly, our ability to offer choice in server architectures is increasing flexibility for customers. By introducing competitiveness into the Solaris market we're also helping to drive down IT infrastructure costs, while our innovative Capacity-on-Demand solutions are starting to make Utility Computing a reality for major UK customers.

"We're also starting to see the benefit of our impressive supply chain management infrastructure, which reaches from our award-winning factory in Augsburg, Germany right through to our UK reseller network," he continued. "This gives us the flexibility and control we need to support our customers, while also giving us the productivity necessary to win new business, gain market share and compete profitably in one of the world's most price-sensitive markets."

In the SME sector Fujitsu Siemens Computers has built on the previous year's success, growing overall business by 28 per cent, and making strong progress in sales of its PRIMERGY Intel-based server - where business grew by 63 per cent - and in notebook PCs with LIFEBOOK sales up 54 per cent. During the year the company also expanded the number of UK resellers accredited under its Elite2 reseller programme, increasing the base by some 25 per cent. Fujitsu Siemens Computers plans to further expand its number of accredited UK resellers by 50 per cent by the end of April 2004.
