The XML web services platform |
|
Microsoft .NET is a set of software technologies for connecting information, people, systems and devices. This latest-generation technology is based on Web services, or small building-block applications that can connect to each other as well as to other, larger applications over the Internet and share data across different hardware platforms and operating systems. The Microsoft .NET platform looks after every aspect of developing, managing, using, and even experiencing XML Web services. Clients include PCs, notebooks, workstations, mobile phones, handhelds, tablet PCs, game consoles, and other smart devices. Smart clients use software that supports XML Web services, enabling you to access your data regardless of location, type or number of clients you use.
The power to adapt flexibly Microsoft .NET enterprise servers, including the Microsoft Windows 2003 server family, comprise the Microsoft .NET server infrastructure for deploying, managing, and orchestrating XML Web services. Designed with mission-critical performance in mind, they provide enterprises with the agility necessary to integrate their systems, applications and partners through XML Web services, as well as the flexibility to adapt to changing business requirements. The Intranet at Fujitsu Siemens Computers is based on the .NET framework. This means, for example, that if a company employee is looking for a colleague’s contact information, the relevant data is provided as a Web service. |
