The Dynamic Data Center |
The Dynamic Data Center (DDC) is a key element of our strategic focus. This concept represents a new breakthrough when compared with existing paradigms and stands for a new generation of IT architectures that will give IT more flexibility, efficiency and reliability through virtualization of resources and automation of processes. In the Dynamic Data Center all storage, networking and server resources are pooled. This virtualization of resources breaks the rigid server-to-application links that often resulted in bottlenecks and under-utilization of computing capacity in the past. It also gives IT managers a much greater degree of flexibility to adapt to changing needs. Resources are automatically assigned to applications and services as needed. New servers can be easily added to the server pool, for example, if there is an overall increase in demand for bandwidth. Components and modules are seamlessly integrated to ensure efficient operations. At the application level, a Dynamic Data Center is based on service-oriented architectures (SoAs) rather than rigid applications. This ensures a flexible integration framework for new applications and business processes. Applications can be scaled up and out "on demand". It’s all about doing more with less – more efficiency and more flexibility with fewer costs.
