| | PRIMECLUSTER |
| High availability and scalability for the entire IT-infrastructure
|
| PRIMECLUSTER is the joint cluster product suite from the entire Fujitsu Group of companies (Fujitsu Siemens Computers/EMEA, Fujitsu Limited/Asia-Pacific and Fujitsu Technology Solutions/USA) and will be provided worldwide as a global product. PRIMECLUSTER offers enterprises a powerful and cost-effective way of linking servers together to maximize the availability and scalability of their IT infrastructure. It has been developed with the business-critical computing needs of enterprises in mind and aims to redefine availability to include not only the uptime of a server, but also by focusing on the entire hardware infrastructure, including the network and the storage devices. A variety of mechanisms is provided to implement high availability and scalability on any layer of today's multi-tier enterprise applications. The PRIMECLUSTER product suite is offered in the form of solution-oriented server variants which comprise a broad range of services. PRIMECLUSTER is released on the Solaris/SPARC based PRIMEPOWER server with Solaris (beginning with release 8), the new SPARC Enterprise server product line running Solaris 10 operating system, and the Intel based PRIMERGY and PRIMEQUEST server with the Linux operating system. |

| High availability of applications and services |
| The PRIMECLUSTER HA server represents the most basic form of high availability environment for any given applications, services and data. The primary goals are the automatic recognition of system failures and component errors as well as introducing the appropriate recovery measures (transparent local recovery or application failover).
A characteristic attribute of the PRIMECLUSTER HA server is the concept of the "neutral" monitoring and controlling. In this context "neutral" means that any given applications such as SAP, Oracle, i2, Siebel, etc. can be integrated in the high availability environment without using specific interfaces and therefore without undergoing any modifications.
A cluster-wide data management sets standards of simplicity and security. The extraordinary characteristics include: Simple configuration via automatic recognition of devices in the SAN environments, decreased switching time for applications (e.g. via fast file system recovery), scalability via parallel data access from various different cluster nodes, ensuring data consistency even in the case of administrative handling errors and expandability of file systems in current operation.

| Continuous database availability |
| You place the highest demands on the availability of your database. Not having access to the data during database recovery is unacceptable. In this case, the ORACLE Parallel Server (OPS) or the Real Application Cluster (RAC) from Oracle offer you additional options for the individual implementation of your cluster.
In addition to the function of the PRIMECLUSTER HA server, the PRIMECLUSTER Parallel Server supplies communication interfaces for parallel database systems. For optimal scalability and database throughput, the implementation is based on a protocol geared to short latent periods and supports cluster interconnects of various bandwidths (Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, etc.). |

|
| Dynamic load balancing for internet applications |
| The PRIMECLUSTER Scalability Server is the ideal option for ensuring scalability and constant availability for application scenarios in which the application performance can be increased via the so-called "scale out" approach (several instances of the application that are independent of one another run on several - mostly small - systems).
