Fujitsu Siemens Computers - We make sure
ABOUT US

Memberships

Fujitsu Siemens Computers joined the United Nations Global Compact in July 2005. The international initiative was founded in 2000 by the United Nations and encompasses just under 3,000 business participants worldwide. Together with U.N. agencies, areas of civil society and international organizations, these companies have banded together to promote universal social and environmental principles. For this purpose, the Global Compact has designed ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption.

Our membership of the Global Compact plays an important role in our ongoing commitment to operating in a socially and environmentally responsible manner and we see strong alignment between the Compact principles and our 'we make sure' brand promise based on our special sense of responsibility. It provides an ideal platform from which we can not only communicate these values, but from which we can exchange experience in fulfilling the principles with others whilst strengthening our motivation.

Over the last 2 years we have worked hard to integrate the ten principles across our business from supply-chain to the environment, and we will gradually look to step up our levels of public communication on our progress.

As well as being a member of the Global Compact, Fujitsu Siemens Computers recently joined the green grid, a consortium of IT companies and professionals seeking to lower the overall consumption of power in data centers around the globe and is an associate member of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative. This initaiative brings together industry, consumers and conservation organizations to significantly increase the energy efficiency of computers and servers. As a member, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is committed to develop and and offer products that meet or exceed energy efficient standards.

In 2008, Fujitsu Siemens Computers also joined up with GeSI, a global partnership of ICT companies that promotes technologies for a sustainable development and encourages continual improvement in sustainability management and best practice.
