| | Great progress in Greenpeace ranking |
 |
In the latest Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics, released on September 16, Fujitsu Siemens Computers was named as the greenest IT Infrastructure provider Following only Nokia and Samsung overall, this position is a dramatic improvement on our last-place ranking in June 2008.
The 18 firms included in the analysis were judged on various criteria regarding toxic chemicals, e-waste and energy, with points awarded to those firms which showed positive developments in such areas as the phase-out of toxic chemicals in manufacturing, support for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and take-back schemes. We were particularly praised for setting 2010 as the deadline for the complete elimination of harmful substances such as PVC and Brominated Flame Retardants (BFRs) from our products, and for consistently exceeding Energy Star standards, with 27% of our consumer PCs, 75% of our Business Line professional notebooks and 58% of our business PCs meeting Energy Star 4 requirements – with 100% of these models exceeding the set requirements by 26-57%.
Our political commitment to the global reduction of greenhouse gases was also acknowledged and lauded. This enormous improvement is recognition of our continued effort to be greener in everything we do, and sets a benchmark upon which we only intend to improve.
