Fujitsu Siemens Computers Italy is really living the company motto. Over the last year, our Italian office has implemented a range of measures to reduce its impact on the environment. One of the most successful of the green steps made has been a new energy supply and lighting system.
Electricity is now purchased from a supplier, who only provides electricity from 100% renewable sources such as solar power and hydroelectricity. In addition to this, motion sensors have been used in the office to ensure that lights are only used when people need them. Together these measures have already led to an annual saving of over 11,000 euros.
But that’s not all! Fujitsu Siemens in Italy has also rethought its car policy. Dual-alimentation cars, running on liquid fuel and petrol, are subsidized by Fujitsu Siemens Computers, encouraging employees to choose the green option. This has resulted in a 25-30% reduction of car emissions when compared to last year.
In addition to the above, Italy has implemented a range of paper-saving measures whilst committing itself to use 100% recycled paper. Alongside the obvious environmental benefits, this is expected to save the company over 13,000 euros per annum.
Our Italian office has also been supporting Italy’s largest alternative trading organization, Ctm altromercato. At Christmas employees were given hampers containing fair trade and organic produce supplied by Ctm, increasing awareness of the fair trade cause and spreading the culture of responsible consumption.
