| | Apprenticeships – We Make Sure! |
While many companies struggle with the concept of disability in the workplace, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is already set to benefit from the contributions of two wheelchair-bound apprentices |
Marina Schenk and Florian Schnell, who previously completed an internship with Fujitsu Siemens Computers, have started their apprenticeships in Augsburg. Marina is training as an Industrial Clerk and Florian as an Electronics Specialist for Devices and Systems. “I wanted to work at Fujitsu Siemens Computers because I enjoyed my time here during my internship,” explained Florian. “I never thought that I would find a suitable professional apprenticeship so soon.”
Back in 2005, Florian had read about the accolade awarded to Fujitsu Siemens | |
Computers as a “disability friendly employer” in the German Social Association VdK Deutschland newspaper. In addition, he completed an internship programme at Siemens AG in Augsburg. An internship in the vocational training workshop at Fujitsu Siemens Computers followed one year later. While other firms were not responsive to his applications for apprenticeships, he was warmly accepted by us. Fujitsu Siemens Computers was honoured for its continuing efforts with an "integration prize" from the Bavarian goverment in 2007.

 | Marina’s journey to us also began with an internship. She began in the system board manufacturing department where her father has been working for 18 years. Due to her positive experience there, she applied for an apprenticeship as an Industrial Clerk with us. The sixteen-year-old has already been recognized by the German Federal President for her volunteer work in her hometown of Meitingen near Augsburg. She truly appreciates the attitude and approach, displayed by our company: “Other firms should look to Fujitsu Siemens Computers as an example,” she said. |
“For years, we have been championing equal opportunities for our disabled colleagues,” emphasized Gerhard Piesch, the representative for disabled workers at Fujitsu Siemens Computers in Augsburg. “I am certain that Marina and Florian will complete the tasks assigned to them with great success.”
