Training and Development

Employee learning and development is a critical element of our overall approach to employee investment. Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers its employees an extensive variety of training and learning programs in wide ranging formats, with a learning portfolio of approximately 1,000 different courses, 700 of them are e-learning based. We seek to foster constant learning at any stage and through the appropriate mechanism. In particular the application of new media to our learning programs ensures high availability and good cost-value ratio, in turn enabling us to offer more learning per euro spent and in different languages.

Among the most intensive and competency enhancing of our training programs, and those that deliver best-in-class learning success, are classroom training sessions or blended-learning methodologies with a mix of classroom and e-methodologies. E-learning programs also serve well as small-scale skills enhancement or as refresher courses. We can offer these programs with a full 365-day access and with as many as 700 different modules, from office applications, around the clock language training, to sales updates. Our employees view these e-learning courses as an online library upon which they can draw at any time.

With such a large e-learning offering we can reach employees across all our countries of operation. This is vital since our regional spread covers South Africa, Finland and Portugal to Russia with many small offices in between. In addition to this large centralized offering, local or localized training programs can be readily established for specific qualification needs in our countries and regions, in particular when it comes to running them in local languages. We also care about our partner’s qualification and certification which we are able to address not only by offering a range of product training, solutions and services, but also on soft skills like management capabilities.

We monitor employee’s development through our annual performance management process. Here employees and managers have in-depth discussions on responsibilities, skills, competencies, performance and development needs. Apart from our training and learning programs our employee’s development is supported by other diverse measures, such as Talent Management for those with high potential or different curricula-based development programs, especially for high performers. Increasingly, we are introducing role based curricula to support the development of specific role groups such as Project Management.
